Our Day with the Students at Kishwaukee College
At Tech-Weld, we know that the best machines in the world don’t mean much without the right people behind them. On April 30th, our team headed over to the Kishwaukee College Welding Expo for a day that was all about the love of the craft!
Finding That First Spark Again
There is something special about being in a room full of people who are just starting their journey. Seeing the students’ focus and hearing them talk about their favorite techniques took us right back to our own early days. We all remember that moment when we first realized that welding was more than just a job. It was a passion.
Getting to share that excitement with the next generation is exactly why we do what we do. It wasn’t just about recruiting talent. It was about reliving those “lightbulb moments” and showing these students that their hard work is leading toward a truly rewarding career.
What Life at Tech-Weld Looks Like
We spent a lot of time talking with the students about what we actually do at our shop in Sycamore. It was great to show them that the skills they are practicing in class have a massive impact on the world around them.
We chatted about how we build precision-welded tubes and custom tanks for everything from aerospace to the food industry. We wanted them to see that at Tech-Weld, we aren’t just a standard mill. We are a team that solves problems and creates custom solutions that help other companies succeed. For a student, seeing that their hobby can turn into a career building high-tech components for flight or defense makes all those hours in the booth worth it.
Our Commitment to Our Neighbors
Giving back to the community isn’t something we just talk about. It’s part of who we are. Since this was a free event, we were more than happy to donate our time to sit down with these students and answer their questions.
Being a local, family-operated business means we care about the future of the Sycamore area. By supporting schools like Kishwaukee College, we’re helping make sure our local industry stays strong for years to come. We believe in showing up for our neighbors and helping out the kids who will one day be the leaders of our trade.
A Bright Path Ahead
We left the Expo feeling energized and incredibly proud of the talent coming out of our local schools. The future of welding looks bright, and we are excited we got to be a small part of the journey for these students.
